1. Change default passwords. Routers, switches and cameras shipped with factory logins are the single easiest way in.
2. Separate your guest WiFi from the network your business data lives on.
3. Keep firmware updated — most breaches exploit known holes that a patch already fixed.
4. Back up critical data off the main network, so ransomware cannot reach it.
5. Know who can access what. Least-privilege access limits the damage if one account is compromised.
